Newspapers, Catalogs, and Magazines can be a problem if only that is hard to remember why we kept them in the first place. Before the piles becomes too high here are a few ways to get them back under control:
Newspapers Stay with the program daily.
* Flip through them-jog your memory why you've kept them.
* To recycle-start a recycle pile or box.
* When a newspaper crosses your sight, circle the important article or picture that you want to keep.
* Remove the article or picture and then notate the date and pertinent information from the edition in case you need it later.
* Put them in a file or a box – just to keep them together for the time being.
* If there is a date or sale that you need to remember, enter it in your date book now.
* Either throw away or recycle the newspapers that are left.
Catalogs Most repeat catalogs will have the same items throughout.
* Flip through them and tear out the items that you are interested in.
* Notate all pertinent information on the tear out. Circle the item – later you may forget why you were interested.
* Compare the prices. Sometimes you can receive special deals depending on which edition of the catalog you use.
* If the catalog has a web page, add the address to a list and keep the item numbers with a brief description of the item with it.
* Check for online discounts
Magazines Handle much the same way as the newspapers and catalogs.
* If the subject is health, exercise, and especially technology, consider the date because information gets old quick.
* Flip through the magazine, tear out the articles that interest you-track down all the pages that include parts of the story.
* Write pertinent information on each article such as the date and name of the magazine.
* If you prefer not to remove the articles-use the front cover to list the articles and pages for future reference.
Now that you have the sorted piles of newspaper articles, catalog wishes, and magazine articles you probably have a lot more space. Keep each category in a separate box, drawer, or file.
